The role of the Counseling Department at Saint Viator High School is to provide services that will facilitate an educational and developmental process for all students. The counselors serve the school community through personal, social and academic counseling. The counselors organize and administer a guidance program that disseminates information to support students in planning occupational, vocational and college goals.
Counselor webpages are updated regularly to provide important information for you and your child. Visit your student’s counselor’s webpage by clicking on the “webpage” link next to his/her picture below. An e-mail may be sent to a counselor by clicking on his/her name.
The calendar, which appears on the right-hand side of this webpage, lists on- and off-campus college events, ACT/SAT testing dates, career planning events and Counseling Department events.
Mr. Joe Majkowski

Mr. Majkowski has been with Saint Viator High School since 1983. He received his bachelor’s degree from North Park University and a master’s of education in counseling from Northern Illinois University. He is the Counseling Department Chairperson and Peer Mediation Moderator.
Mrs. Kelly Dutmers

Mrs. Dutmers has been a counselor at Saint Viator since 2008. Previously, she worked as a counselor at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago, IL and has previous teaching experience at Saint Josaphat School in Chicago, IL. Additionally, she served as a career and academic advisor at DePaul University. Mrs. Dutmers received a bachelor's degree and holds a master's of education in human services and counseling from DePaul University with a dual endorsement in both school counseling and community counseling.

Bro. Rob has been a member of the Clerics of St. Viator since 1985. He has a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Illinois University, a master's in religious education from Loyola University, and master's in counseling from Roosevelt University. He has been a teacher at Viatorian schools in Illinois and Nevada. He has been at Saint Viator from 1989-1993 and returned here in 1999. Since 2004 Bro. Rob has been a member of the counseling department and currently is the counselor for the Class of 2014.
Mrs. Stephanie Collins

Mrs. Collins joined the counseling department at Saint Viator in the fall of 2012 after earning a master’s degree in school counseling from Concordia University. Previously, she taught English at Saint Viator from 2006-2010. Mrs. Collins also holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University and a master’s degree in education from National-Louis University with a duel endorsement in English and journalism.
Mrs. Kathy Duggan

Mrs. Duggan had been a school counselor since 1994 and was a teacher for 25 years before that. She received her bachelor’s degree form Mundelein College in psychology and elementary education and holds three master's degrees from Northeastern Illinois University in counseling, administration, and special education.
