Congratulations to Elizabeth Schermerhorn ’27 whose submission to Mental Health America of the Northern Suburbs’ 2024 Essay and Multimedia Contest was selected for the Founder's Award!

The annual MHANS contest is open to students around Chicago’s northern suburbs. This year’s theme focused on social media and its impact on mental health and relationships. Students were asked to write a story in 250 to 500 words, using personal experiences to describe how social media has affected their mental health and how it contributes to or hinders their relationships. All submissions were put through a rigorous scoring process and multiple rounds of judging.

Mental Health America of the Northern Suburbs is an affiliate of Mental Health America, the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness.
