The student co-curricular program exists
to support, complement and enrich the personal, social and academic
lives of our students. The program supplements a
student's academic growth by providing lifelong learning
experiences and a greater opportunity to develop their interests,
talents and abilities beyond the classroom structure. The goals of
the program are:
-
Extend and enhance student academic
learning
-
Provide opportunities for students'
pursuit of established interests and development of new interests
-
Enhance the opportunity to develop
responsibility, leadership, fellowship, cooperation and
self-direction
-
Promote school spirit and pride
-
Recognize students for many
different types of achievement
-
Provide for widespread
participation by the entire student body
-
Foster more effective teamwork and
communication between students and faculty / administration
Saint Viator High School requires
that each student must be passing 25 credit hours of school work
per week (2.5 credits) to be eligible for co-curricular activities.
Teachers will evaluate a student's performance each Wednesday while
his/her sport or activity is in session. If the student is declared
ineligible, his/her period of eligibility will be a minimum of one
week, beginning on a Monday and concluding the following Sunday.
In order to practice or participate
in a co-curricular activity, students must not miss more than two
periods (exclusive of homeroom) on the day of the activity.
