An Invitation from President Fr. Dan Lydon, C.S.V. '73

Dear Saint Viator Students, Parents, Alumni, and Friends:

The time has come for Saint Viator High School to look boldly into the future and to build upon our strong academic foundation as well as our vibrant Viatorian heritage and Catholic tradition.

I am committed to our relentless pursuit of a rigorous and meaningful academic program, the bold enhancement of our building and campus, and our financial vitality. We at Saint Viator have made a conscious decision to deepen our commitment to continuous advancement, access, and achievement.

Saint Viator High School is a school where young people are shaped by spirituality, technology, academics, and athletics. Saint Viator is where our community is striving to meet a dynamic future. Saint Viator is where young men and women learn to make a difference in our community and the world.

As a sign of our vitality, we have begun to transform our campus. We began by enhancing the sacred space of our chapel. As a sign of our commitment to build on our strong academic foundation, we have begun to transform the space in which our students learn. As a sign that our community is striving to meet a dynamic future, we have remodeled the former student entrance and concession area into a comfortable and attractive common area for our students. We have named that area “Burks Place” in honor of our long-time Building and Grounds Director, Steve Burks, who passed away last year. Steve said to me on many occasions, “Whatever we do, whatever we decide, let us always ask ourselves this question: What is best for our students?”

I would say that the direction in which we are moving is what is best for our current and future students. To celebrate all of this, I would like to invite you to our next Family Mass on Sunday, February 26, 2023, when we will rededicate our chapel and celebrate the beginning of a new era at Saint Viator High School. Mass will begin at 5:00 p.m. After Mass, you may want to peek into our model classrooms and check on the progress of Burks Place.

Thank you for your support of Saint Viator High School. Your children are truly a gift to us and to the world. God’s blessings as we head into spring.
