Back-to-School Message from Principal Jon Baffico

As we begin the 2022-23 school year, I would be remiss if I did not take a moment and first thank all the people here at Saint Viator High School for making my transition from Saint Patrick High School so seamless. From the Administration to the Maintenance Crew, everyone has been supportive and helpful as we get ready for the school year. I have had the opportunity to meet many people since I was announced as Principal back on April 7 and look forward to meeting many more members of the community in the upcoming days and weeks. I have been incredibly impressed with the passion, enthusiasm, and sincere care for the building and people that make Saint Viator a vibrant place to be. It is evident that Saint Viator is more than just a private, Catholic, co-educational high school. Simply stated, it is a family and a way of life.

I am often asked what led me to Saint Viator and how my educational and personal beliefs would integrate with that of the school. Below is an excerpt from my personal and professional experiences and how I believe they work in conjunction with the school’s mission and core values:

I am grateful that my career in education has given me the opportunity to fulfill my purpose and ambition of becoming a teacher, coach, and finally an administrator.  Additionally, my focus at Saint Viator High School will be to help carry out the vision and mission of the school.

Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, my years of growth and development were anchored in very fundamental beliefs: a strong sense of family, community, and ethical values. These have been tested in numerous places as my life has unfolded from Atherton, CA to Libertyville, IL While faced with new adventures and the variety of great experiences that all new places offer, I tried to keep my focus on the passion and sense of accomplishment I could experience, regardless of the place or circumstances.

I feel that my growth as a student, a person, an athlete, and a strong family member was continually challenged with new circumstances and competition. No matter the sport, the social environment, or the school, I tried to always give 100% of myself to my beliefs, my teammates, my studies, and my values. I believe it is from these experiences that my work ethic, sense of accountability, responsibility, and value of discipline stems.

I have always tried to add value to any organization or team to which I belonged, and I am consistently seeking ways to improve myself. Simply stated, I have a burning desire to always do better and to lead others to the next level.

I am excited about the opportunity to lead Saint Viator into the future. I want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child experience academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. With your help and cooperation, this will be an excellent school year.

Please look for future write-ups from me regarding school happenings.

God bless you and your family.
