Welcoming Nolan Dowling as Our New Athletic Director
Nolan Dowling was named the next Athletic Director at Saint Viator High School and begins June 1st. Shortly after meeting with the Saint Viator administration, Dowling released a statement: “I am truly honored and excited to join Saint Viator as the new Athletic Director. This program has a rich history and a tradition of excellence in athletics, and I am eager to build on that strong foundation while leading us into the future. I look forward to giving my all to Saint Viator and being a part of this incredible journey.”
Saint Viator President Ryan Aiello and interim AD Mike Obsuszt searched the nation for the right AD for Saint Viator. “We wanted a seasoned, passionate, and energetic Athletic Director who believes in our Viatorian mission and will create a coaching culture that graduates future moral leaders in our community,” remarked Aiello.
Dowling, who was a long snapper for Western Kentucky University, earned a BS in Exercise Science and an MS in Recreation and Sports Administration, and was awarded Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). Dowling has six years of AD experience at both the high school and middle school levels, as well as experience in emergency management of interscholastic athletic events.
Married to his high school sweetheart, Sarah, the Dowlings have two young children and are looking forward to joining the Saint Viator community. “My goal is to create an unparalleled experience for our student-athletes and their families, one that mirrors a collegiate-level environment in terms of professionalism, preparation, and overall excellence. I want every athlete who comes through our program to leave with lasting memories, valuable life lessons, and the skills needed to be successful beyond high school.”
As we welcome Dowling, we are also forever grateful to Mike Obsuszt, who left retirement from Barrington High School to oversee Saint Viator Athletics. He kept athletics running smoothly and was instrumental in helping find Football Coach Robbie Gould and our new AD, Dowling. Obsuszt helped set up Saint Viator for success, and despite no longer being in the building, he will act as an advisor and help onboard our new AD.
Mark Rychlik, who served as an AD for 12 years at Pritzker College Prep in Chicago before joining Saint Viator as Building and Grounds Director, will stand in as our Interim AD for the remainder of the year with support from Nick Sobieszczyk '05, Dave Archibald, and Miranda Behrens.
Located in Arlington Heights, IL, Saint Viator High School is a private, co-ed, Catholic school for grades 9-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
